Top Things You Need to Know About 2024 Benefits Open Enrollment

  1. Open Enrollment for all OU benefits-eligible employees is October 16-November 10.
  2. Before Open Enrollment begins, log in to Employee Self-Service: https://hr.ou.edu/Self-Service to ensure you have access, verify your mailing address, and check your beneficiaries.
  3. PING ID must be installed in order to enroll online from any place off campus. For more information on enrolling and installing PING ID: https://ou.edu/ouit/mfa.
  4. You can view the 2024 OU Benefits Guide here.
  5. There is no change to the active employee PPO plan; however, there is a 9% rate increase on medical insurance premiums.
  6. The High Deductible Health Plan's deductible is changing from $3,000 to $3,200 for individuals and from $6,000 to $6,400 for families.
  7. This year’s enrollment is passive, meaning if you make no changes during this open enrollment opportunity, your benefits will continue as-is for 2024 with the exception of your HSA and FSA elections.
  8. Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) plans elections must be completed each year; plan elections for FSA benefits do not roll over from year to year.
  9. The HSA maximum election has increased for 2024 to $4,150 for an individual and $8,300 for a family. Please remember to reduce your HSA election by the employer contribution of $500 for an individual and $1,000 for a family.
  10. Please remember, if you enroll in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), you must also enroll in an HSA in order to receive the employer contribution. If you do not wish to contribute your own money to an HSA, please set your election to $0.
  11. If you are enrolling in life insurance, you can only increase your amount by two increments ($20,000) for employees and spousal life by a maximum of $10,000 without completing an Evidence of Insurability (EOI). If you do not initiate the EOI process by Friday, November 10, your insurance will not increase, and your coverage will remain unchanged.
  12. Be sure to print your Confirmation Statement for reference. They can take a few days to generate once you have finalized your enrollment.

1. Before Enrollment

  • Attend a Benefits Fair. Vendor representatives will be available at all four locations.
  • Review your current benefits in Employee Self-Service. After you log in, go to Self-Service > Benefit Details > Benefits Summary.
  • Contact Human Resources with any questions about benefits.
  • Review the Benefits Guide, found in the Quick Links on the right.

2. During Enrollment, October 16- November 10

  • Use Employee Self-Service to select your benefits that will be effective January 1, 2024. If you do not wish to make changes during this open enrollment opportunity, your benefits will continue as-is for 2024 with the exception of your Flexible Spending Account elections and Health Savings Account elections.

  • Add or drop coverage for yourself or your dependents.

  • If you are already enrolled in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you must re-enroll to continue your FSA in 2024. Use Employee Self-Service to do this.

  • If you are already enrolled in a Health Savings Account (HSA), you must select your contribution levels for 2024. Use Employee Self-Service to do this.

  • Choose if you would like to be enrolled in Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, or any other voluntary insurance plans.

  • Review your beneficiary information. You will be able to review whom you have designated as beneficiaries and verify their information is up-to-date.

3. After Enrollment

  • Whether or not you take action during the enrollment period, you will receive a Confirmation Statement in Self-Service. If you do make selections, your Confirmation Statement will be online within 72 hours of your enrollment. If you do not take action, your Confirmation Statement will be available within 72 hours after open enrollment ends. Either way, you’ll receive an email to let you know it’s there. Printed Confirmation Statements will not be delivered through campus mail.
  • Review the statement to be sure benefits are correct.
  • If you have questions after reviewing this confirmation, contact Human Resources by November 17, 2023.
  • If you make changes to life or disability insurance, you may be required to complete additional forms which will be mailed to you after you complete enrollment. Please return them promptly.

Additional Things to Consider

  • Consider reviewing your beneficiary designations with Fidelity for retirement plans and in Employee Self-Service for life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.
  • Review the university's Employee Assistance Program with Magellan. For certain services like counseling, you'll be connected with an in-network, local provider so that your sessions can easily continue if needed.

CIGNA IS GOING DIGITAL

Please help us by ensuring your physical mailing address is correct by November 10 in Self-Service. If you make changes to your dental coverage, new insurance cards will be sent to your home address.

Going Digital:
Cigna is transitioning from physical ID cards to digital ID cards on January 1, 2024. As a result, they will not be sending out any physical ID cards to anyone who makes a change to their plan effective January 1, 2024. If you would like to request a printed ID card, you can do so by logging onto mycigna.com.
